Hi all,

I have done a USB HM-TRP adapter as seen on the photo below. USB HM-TRP adapter works on 868 MHz ISM band (Europe) or 915 (Australia, USA). It is a great tool because with it's UHF embedded module it can have a range of over 2 km in the open.

Description

USB HM-TRP module connects to USB port of the PC or any other USB host controller. It communicates through UART and is ideal partner to all those that are into UHF communications with HM-TRP module by HopeRF. USB HM-TRP module can be set via great GUI done by HopeRF. There all parameters can be set.

I guess that operation of the HM-TRP Config GUI is simple. Firstly you have to connect pins GND and CONFIG on the USB HM-TRP module to enter into Config mode. Then press Open COM and you are ready to program all parameters.

Usage of USB HM-TRP module is broad. I am using it to perform programming of bare HM-TRP modules, also to test communication between remote HM-TRP modules. Since USB HM-TRP module contains transceiver communication can be two way i.e. semi duplex.

There is also one possible use of USB HM-TRP module to use it as a simple spectrum analyzer. Namely HM-TRP modules have possibility to read RSSI, which can be displayed on another GUI which you could do on your own.

USB HM-TRP module can be programmed to operate beside 868 MHz band also on other bands. This unfortunately has a drawback, because input/output filters are designed for the 868 MHz and operation on other frequency would cause higher loss in the communication.

Enjoy using the USB HM-TRP module.
